The largest production in recent history also closes the final chapter for UNCA's Drama Department after being eliminated in 2024 due to budget cuts.
Cabaret, directed by Stephanie Hickling Beckman, choreographed by Anna Kimmell, and music directed by Matthew Richmond, was a true celebration of UNCA student talent and passion.
While the first weekend was nearly sold out, the second full weekend of performances was canceled due to cast illness.
But in a stunning display of tenacity and creativity, the department rallied together to present one final outdoor performance. The cast met early in the morning to quickly re-stage the entire show (with understudies) while the crew worked to set up the band and sound equipment in the mini-quad.
The result was theatre magic. Nearly 200 audience members attended to support the final curtain call for the Drama Department and celebrate the hard work of the students, faculty, and staff.
